On Jan 20th, 2006 Leonel Moura created robots called Robotic Action Painter the shortened name of this robot is RAP. This robot is displayed at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. RAP does not require a lot of maintenance and zero assistance to create pieces of art work. This robot uses artificial intelligence algorithms, to create paintings through sensors.
Based on personal opinion a robot does not qualify for a legitimate artist, however the physical appearance of the robot design is very creative and attractive to look at. The photograph displays a lot of imagination and creativity. If a robot creates an image is it really art?
The robot is programed to make the images it does not have the ability to pull from feeling or emotions. For replicating art work this robot would be an asset. Although creating this robot to make artist work is extremely creative it is hard to call it art because machines don’t personalized art people do.
